Our Bible study decided last night we're gonna' wait for the DVD - which will probably be out by Christmas!

But thanks for the invite. Though that would be one expensive movie ticket!

Glad you enjoyed it. Next up: "The Nativity," s'posed to be in theaters December 1.hrhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14596988242528734544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21634361.post-85174924683673717002006-10-16T14:42:00.000-04:002006-10-16T14:42:00.000-04:00hrh,

Surprisingly accurate and Israeli-friendly. One scene repeated the same action several times in a row for effect, and it worked well. (The Johnny Cash movie "Gospel Road" uses that technique as well. I don't remember seeing that very often in movies.) It probably won't be around for long, so we will probably get the DVD at some point. Hope the DVD has some good extras.

hrpAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21634361.post-74139577055163970782006-10-09T13:57:00.000-04:002006-10-09T13:57:00.000-04:00Hi Mary:

I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Unfortunately, so far the movie isn't playing within 50 miles of my hometown! :(

So I guess it'll have to be DVD for me ...hrhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14596988242528734544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21634361.post-1158587632511859362006-09-18T09:53:00.000-04:002006-09-18T09:53:00.000-04:00Hi Jorge:Thanks for the film review. Now I really want to see it.

In fact, our Bible study was talking about going as a group - until I found out the closest theater showing it is in Willoughby, Ohio! (We're in Connecticut.)

I certainly hope that changes as we get closer to the release date.

Thanks again for the review. I'm glad you and your family enjoyed it.hrhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14596988242528734544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21634361.post-1158545745663918542006-09-17T22:15:00.000-04:002006-09-17T22:15:00.000-04:00At first glance of the trailer you expect the film...At first glance of the trailer you expect the film to be an epic adventure of Hollywood style grandeur, filmed in India with an all star cast consisting of the first reunion of Omar Shariff and Peter O'Toole since Laurence of Arabia. What you see on screen is exactly that.

The film, by Gener8Xion Entertainment, is fully endorsed by the American Bible Society for being as close to Old Testament scripture as possible. It appeals to all audiences seeking a beautiful story instilled with values and a happy ending. Women will appreciate Tiffany Dupont's powerful Esther emerging from hesitation to find the faith and conviction to save her people; Jewish audiences will easily recognize the triumphant story of Purim and feel that lump in their throats as Hadassah reveals her true identity to the King and confronts him about Haman's evil plan. My children clapped with glee when Haman heard that he would have to escort Mordecai through the kingdom proclaiming the King's favor for the Jew.

Moredecai,'A Jew', as he proudly proclaims, is played by the very able and incisive Welsh actor John Rhys-Davies. Luke Goss is King Xerxes and Tommy 'Tiny' Lister, better recognized as Deebo by the followers of the cult classic Friday, does a brilliant Hagai, the King's chamberlain and Esther's confidant.
This is a family film for all audiences to enjoy at the theater, and an even better DVD to place in Purim baskets, when it is expected to be available.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
