Read On!

Hi all:

If you're an avid reader like myself but don't have gobs of money to spend on books, there's a great new way to sample a variety of books online.

The "Dear Reader" book clubs run by Suzanne Beecher contain 5 days' worth of readings from a new book in a daily e-mail portion. Depending on the book, this usually amounts to the first few chapters, a sizeable enough snippet to decide whether you want to finish the book.

Currently there are 12 book clubs, including nonfiction, business, teen, mystery, horror, romance, prepublication, and even audio. There's also a classics club to catch you up on those classics you never got around to reading.

Some of these clubs run new books every week and some every other week.

I've been subscribed to the fiction, science fiction, and good news clubs for several years. Great stuff. I've discovered several new writers, there are so many good ones out there, I'm jealous!

And if you decide you want to finish one of the featured books, you can still save money by checking it out at your local library! [full disclosure requires me to admit I work at one of said local libraries!]

Read on!
